Description
Ancient Near East, Achaemenid Persian Empire, ca. 550 to 330 BCE. A gorgeous cast bronze beaker with amazing incised design in a thick band around the rim that echoes a woven design. The base is curved, suggesting it was made to be placed in sand or in some other forgiving surface. The rim is almost nonexistent, terminating immediately above the incised design without notice. This beaker was probably used as a drinking vessel, and its artistry suggests that it belonged to an elite member of this society. Comes with custom stand. Size: 2.4" W x 5.5" H (6.1 cm x 14 cm)
