Description
Mid 19th century, 499 x 97 cm, North West Persia, Kurdistan
This blue-ground Kolyai long rug shows a mina khani design of impressively large scale and harmonious colours. The yellow-ground main border contains a blue vine decorated with palmettes and small leaves. Burns has illustrated a comparative example. – Cut along the entire length and rejoined on the inside in the exact place where the field meets the border. Originally the rug was probably wider. Otherwise well preserved.
