Description

Extremely rare item John M. Van Heusen vintage what we believe to be a steamer for collars.Box is copper with Brass Plaque that reads:"John M. Van Heusen/Manufacturer/Albany N.Y. U.S.A./ Pat. Dec. 27, 1892"Twist the knob on the outside and it pulls out to reveal a metal mesh basket.Back in Victorian times the collars and cuffs of men shirts were sometime removable, as these were the areas exposed after a man put on a jacket and would need more frequent laundering. Very rare piece. Copper is in very good condition. A great addition to a country store collection or antique Fashion, or advertising collection. Measures 8 inches high, 8 inches depth, 16 inches long.
