Dj is price clipped, but “8/54” is still present at lower corner of front flap. Wear/tiny chips at dj’s spine ends, tear (1 1/2 in.) to lower portion of rear dj panel. ++ KNIGHT’S GAMBIT. (1949). “One of the Faulkner titles in which ‘First Printing’ (or a variant) does not appear on the verso of the first edition title page.” -Petersen A25b. Red cloth stamped in gold and black, top edge blue-gray. Dj designed by E. McKnight Kauffer. Book is near fine, dj good: Eps and dj’s white areas toned.
