An early twentieth century silver vesta case, decorated

Item Details

Description

An early twentieth century silver vesta case, decorated with bright-cut engraved foliate scrolls surrounding a vacant shield cartouche, hallmarked W J Myatt & Co., Birmingham 1919, height measuring 4.7 cm. Together with a nut vesta case having white metal mounts, height measuring 5 cm. (2).

Condition

Both cases display some general wear, surface marks and scratches consistent with age. The silver case displays a little tarnishing but is generally in quite good condition, hinge and clasp appear in good working order and hallmarks are clear and legible. The white metal hinged lid on the nut vesta does not close properly leaving a gap all the way around. A couple of cracks along seam line of main body on one side. The white metal mounts appear unmarked.
