A circa 1900 German Bracket clock on stand by Winterhalder & Hofmeier. British market, 8-day time and strike movement with quarter hour chiming on eight bells and four coiled gongs. Oak architectural case with gilt metal mounts, having a domed top adorned with three finials, glass door flanked by Ionic pilasters, opening to silvered brass dial with cherub mask and scroll motif, marked "C. G. Iliffe, Barrow-in-Furness", raised on a conforming oak stand with architecturally-inspired carving and gilt metal mounts, on a stepped base. The movement is stamped “W&H/Sch./1” for Winterhalder & Hofmeier of Schwarzenbach, Germany. Running when catalogued.
