Potted in a shape of shallow vessel, wide broad cavetto everted the round side with flat rim, raised on slightly concaved foot base. The central cavetto carved in sgraffiato design, reveal the under layer color after kiln, with two phoenix oppositely facing. All reserved in pale-turquoise-green underglaze ground.

Mark on base, incised a six seal script -ZhuanShu- characters reign mark, QianLong Reign Period of Great Qing.

The Chinese phoenix symbolizes joy and peace.
It is believed that the phoenix only makes an appearance during periods of prosperity, peace and good government.
