Description
Mono Paiute Indians, (American (Serra, Nevada), late 19th century. A finely woven western redbud burden basket with willow wrapped rim over a tapering bowl form body with two horizontal rows in peeled redbud rods (revealing white under the wood). Remnants of tied fabric handle to both sides. Tag to interior in wire "MONO/MADE BY CRUNS/WITH REDBUDS. The backside of tag "PURCHASED JULY 19, 1846/FROM/LESTER R WILSON/SAN GABRIEL, CALIF". Approximate height 6.87", diameter 9.5".
