Description
Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Sican/ Lambayeque, ca. 800 to 1100 CE. A blackware stirrup vessel on a corsetted round foot, with a globular body, a slightly tapered spout, and a strap handle, the body with four panels depicting warrior busts in relief against a stippled ground, the handle with a prone figure. Nylamp (God of the Underworld) forms the base of the spout and is shown with extensive ear ornaments, pectoral and headdress. Size: 6.5" W from handle to opposite side x 7.365" H (16.5 cm x 18.7 cm)

Pressure crack to one side of body. Losses to rim of spout, prone figure on handle, ear ornaments, edges of handle and other peripheries. Expected surface wear with scratches, abrasions, and slip losses commensurate with age.
