The Trans Am Racing circuit of the late 1960s and early 1970s was one of the most exciting competitive events in motorsports history. Cars like the Chevrolet Camaro backed by Roger Penske and driven by Mark Donahue did regular battle with Sam Posey_s Dodge Challenger. On the same lap was the famous Ford Boss 302. For 1970, Bud Moore built a Mustang Boss 302 that was piloted by George Follmer. The team worked magic as they drove away with the championship in 1970. Yes, the glory days of the Trams Am Racing circuit were alive and it was a time like no other. Fast forward several decades and the Ford Motor Company decided it was time to pay tribute to those warriors from the past. Built only for 2012 and 2013, the famous Boss 302 Laguna Seca put a modern face on this legendary car. Featuring a 444 horsepower V-8, the new Boss 302 was a street performance car that could keep pace with anything else on the road. Only 747 were built, but the streets were once again alive with the sound of a legend that many decades before had driven fear into the hearts of all its competitors.
Offered here is number 723 from the original run and just one of the 248 that were finished in instantly recognizable _School Bus Yellow._ 2013 was the last year for this amazing car and number 723 could very well be the _newest_ one in existence with just 162 miles on the odometer. This Boss 302 presents as a new car and still has all of its factory markings in place. Power for the Boss 302 comes from a performance-built five liter V-8 that_s rated at 444 thundering ponies mated to a six-speed transmission and a Torsen rear differential. Documentation included in this sale consists of a copy of the MSO, factory window sticker, and all books and owner_s manual. The _Red_ track key is also provided with the car and has been activated by Ford. This key carries a special red logo and it activates the control module software that's installed by the Ford dealer. This set up adjusts key performance points in the Boss 302 including variable cam timing, spark maps, engine braking, fuel control, and about 400 other performance parameters that turn its polite street manners into a thoroughbred racecar. This Boss 302 also came equipped from the factory with the large brake cooling ducts and front air splitter, which were not installed and are still in boxes stored in the trunk, along with its sealed Ford factory car cover. Other options on this Boss 302 are Recaro seats, strut tower braces and, in the true spirit of competition, the Laguna Seca model came as a rear seat delete car.
The age of Trans Am Racing is long gone, but this born-again tribute to some of the best moments in motorsports stands ready to relive the past. The incredible horsepower and extreme low mileage of this Boss 302 Laguna Seca makes it a very special car that deserves a distinct place amongst unique, low production performance cars of the era.
