Description
English Silverplate Epergne and Plateau, first half 20th century, the epergne in the William IV taste with four laurel-crested, lion's paw-footed flat column legs joined to a stretcher with four scrolling acanthus arms, fitted with one large and four smaller frosted and cut glass bowls, h. 11-3/4", w. 22-3/4", the plateau by Fenton Brothers, Sheffield, circular with wavy banding and fitted with a detachable beveled and reverse-cut mirrored plate, dia. 17".
Condition
Overall Condition: Good. Epergne: No condition issues noted to the metal other than minimal signs of age; no dents, breaks or repairs. Marked on the underside with "db" in a radiant sun. Glass elements excellent with no chips or cracks noted. Plateau: Some wear to the surface details, but in generally good condition. The top surface is slightly out of true, so the mirrored plate does not sit perfectly level and has some wobble. The plate is clean and in very good condition. Marked on the underside with the Fenton Bros. trademark.
