Description
English harp form 8-vase epergne in the Empire taste, late 19th century, executed in brass and glass, likely by F & C Osler (established 1807), constructed as a glass rope twist harp mounted with brass strings between lion head terminals, the harp issuing eight thistle shape posy vases (later), the whole rising on a swirl rib base. Approx: h. 18.5", dia. 10.5".
Condition
One string has been repaired; posy vases replaced; the smallest vase is different than the others; the piece retains vestiges of gilt on mounts; largest vase has an internal hairline on the body; The smallest vase has a fleabite and a 1/8" chip
