Description
A large Greek terracotta figure of the goddess Hera, c. 4th Century BC, frontally molded with great style, depicted seated in her throne wearing chiton, himation and polos. Her hair is in curls which frame her face and holds a pomegranate, opened to reveal the seeds, in one hand and a patera (phiale) in the other. H: 8 2/3 in (22cm). Well-preserved with light surface deposits. Ex Sussex, UK private collection.
