Description
A Greek black-glazed discus scene from a guttus, Campania, 4th Century BC, depicting a nude warrior wearing a full helmet standing to right holding a club and an uncertain object, a spoked wheel behind him. A very interesting image bordered by stamped palm devices and with well-preserved glossy black surfaces. 3 3/8 in x 3 ½ in (8.6 x 8.9 cm). Mounted on lucite base. Ex Oxford, UK private collection.
