Description
Rare silvered art deco bronze on red marble base by Pierre la Faguays(French 1892-1962),cast at the famous Etling foundry in Paris. This work is signed in the marble, "La Faguays" on the left and "Etling"on the right.Pierre La Faguays is one of the greatest Art Deco sculptors of the 1930s, surpassed only by Chiparus. He worked in almost all mediums indcluding marble, but his silvered bronze examples are rare as few were made and few survived. The original reddish yellow marble base was obviously chosen by Faguays because of the natural art deco lines in the matrix.A fine and rare example of his work from the 1930's.
