Description
LENOX COPPER / METAL TRANSFER PLATES, LOT OF FOUR, comprising two 10" x 10" with small floral and geometric decals and monograms including three for Yale College in Connecticut with Hebrew and Latin, one 12" x 12" with floral spray designs, and one 12" x 12" with ornate dragon design. Punched numbers include "345", "411", "181", and "59", otherwise unmarked. Includes two original envelopes marked for Lenox in which the plates were stored. Winslow Anderson designed for Lenox Ceramic Art Company, Trenton, New Jersey. Third quarter 20th century.
Three undamaged with good surface to the engravings and some expected tarnish, one with areas of rust.
Provenance: Winslow Anderson estate sold to benefit the Huntington Museum of Art.
