"The First Introduction To Hounds", Plate 1. Hand colored steel engraving by J. Harris from a painting by Henry Thomas Alken. Published by Messrs. Fores. Fores was an English print publisher and print seller founded in London in 1783 by Samuel William Fores (1761-1838) and continued by his heirs for 200 years. S.W. Fores specialized in caricature prints. After his death in 1838, his sons George Thomas Fores (1806-1858) and Arthur BlÃ¼cher Fores (1814-1883) took over as Messrs. Fores Sporting and Fine Print Repository. Dimensions are: image size 26 3/8" X 21 1/4", overall 29 1/2" X 24 3/8". All measurements are approximate.
