Description
Roman small bronze figurine of Mercury seated sideways on an eagle, c. 2nd Century AD, he wears a winged petasos and a chlamys and holds a pigskin purse. H. 2 1/8 in. (5.5 cm.). Exhibited: The New York International Antiquarian Fine Art Fair, New York, November 2001. Ex J.M.E. collection, New York, acquired at Bonham’s London in April 2000.
