Description
Two China trade lacquerware boxes including one descending in the Harrison family of Philadelphia. The black lacquered case depicting a central panel of gilt figures surrounded by floral and butterfly design, the original purpose of the box was to house an embroidered silk piano shawl which also has remnants of the original cardboard storage box for said shawl. Also included in the grouping is an embroidered rank badge (image size 9.5" x 8.5"), box size 19" x 18 3/4" x 2.5" . Along with a sarcophagus formed gilt and lacquered tea box having locking hinges and lock, box size :h 5.5" x w11" x d 8.5". Condition: losses to small box and lifting, one hinge without screws, black lacquer box in reasonably good shape, two screws off on hinge, silk piano shawl with some staining.
