Description
French, circa 1900s. A Louis XV style gilt bronze mounted and Vernis Martin decorated vitrine or curio, display cabinet having an arched cornice surmounted by gilt bronze floral cresting above a conforming glazed door within scrolling acanthus cast borders over a painted romantic scene in landscape setting, opening to an interior with mirrored back and three glass shelves over a gold velvet covered shelf with concealed storage with below, the exterior case having glazed sides,with landscape scenes, the angles cast with gilt bronze clasps leading to the squat cabriole legs, each mounted with foliate sabots. Backside with two stickers "MADE IN FRANCE". Approximate height 73.62", width 28.5" (front leg to leg), depth 17.12" (back leg to front leg).
Condition
Wear commensurate with age and use. Losses to figural panel with chips, craquelure, staining, discoloration, and abrasions. Some seam separation and oxidation to ormolu. Some staining and lifting to veneer. No other visible signs of damage or repair.
