Description
STRASBURG, SHENANDOAH VALLEY OF VIRGINIA DECORATED STONEWARE JAR, salt-glazed, approximately one-gallon capacity, ovoid form with arched tab-like handles, rounded rim, and flared foot. Brushed cobalt horizontal fern/leaf decoration on both sides. Attributed to the shop of John and James Miller, Strasburg, VA. 1830-1840. 9 1/4" H, 6" D rim.
One side excellent with a faint hairline at one handle, other side with 2" wide chip to rim, shallow chip to edge of base and under one handle.
