Description
STAMPED "SOLOMON BELL / STRASBURG / VA", SHENANDOAH VALLEY OF VIRGINIA DECORATED STONEWARE JARS, LOT OF TWO, salt-glazed, each approximately half-gallon capacity, cylindrical form with squared rim and bevel-edge base, manganese-slip glazed interiors. Brushed manganese dropped feather decoration repeated three times around shoulder. The shop of Solomon Bell (1817-1882), Strasburg, VA. 1860-1880. 8" H, 5 1/2" and 6" D rims.
Undamaged except for scattered small chips to one rim.
