Henning Koppel collection of "Taverna" copper pots and pans, circa 1971, comprising 3 skillets, two covered double-handled sauce pans, and two covered saucepans, 7 total pieces each impressed "GEORG JENSEN DESIGN HK DENMARK," all are silver lined with stainless steel handles, largest skillet-3 in. H. x 18 ½ in. over handle, largest pot-4 in. H. x 16 ½ in. over handle. Henning Koppel (1918-1981) was trained as a sculptor and began collaborating with Georg Jensen in 1946. He continued studies in sculpture at the Royal Danish Academy and later in Paris. Koppel fled to Sweden during the Second World War. At 27, he returned and began working at Georg Jensen, which marked his start in jewelry, hollowware and flatware designs. During his life, he won many awards including the Milan Triennial, the International Design Award and the Lunning Prize. The integrity and appeal of his designs remain vital and undiminished.
