James, Stewart. Archive of Stewart James Correspondence and Manuscripts. Spanning 1980 – 1995 and including six or more typewritten manuscripts for effects devised by James (Bermuda Triangles, Half Open Omen, Kardtu, etc., some with manuscript corrections by James), correspondence related to various publications, magicians (Charles T. Jordan, Michael Close, M.F. Zens, Howard Lyons, and dozens more), and magic tricks (including the Automated Sefalajia), and associated letters from James’s associates. Lyons (Patterson) and Ray Massecar. Many lengthy carbons of Busby’s replies included, along with clippings, copies of articles and associated information. Over 100 pages, neatly organized. Reclusive and enigmatic, Stewart James (1908-1996) was also one of the twentieth century’s most prolific inventors of magic tricks and principles. He collaborated with Busby on a version of his miniature spirit cabinet known as the Automated Sefalaljia (see Lot 63).
