Description

Salvador Dali (Spanish, 1904-1989) for French National Railroad, circa 1969. Collection of three framed Surrealist off-set lithograph posters, each commissioned and published by the French National Railways (SNCF) to promote travel to various destinations throughout France. Set includes "Normandie", "Auvergne" and "Alpes". Each signed and dated lower right within matrix, titled lower middle. Black framed works measure approximately 39.5" x 25.5".. Brass framed work measures approximately 38.5" x 24.5". Note: Due to the use of wing-like forms and butterflies in these works, they are some times referred to as the "Butterfly" series.
