Description
Roman Empire, Imperial Period, ca. 2nd century CE. An attractive hair pin, hewn from bone, carved on the top with a depiction of a male god, possibly Jupiter or Pluto, wearing a broad and flowing chiton. Four grooves are carved below the deity's torso, and five spiralized grooves extend below. Size: 0.8" W x 4.9" H (2 cm x 12.4 cm); 5.125" H (13 cm) on stand.
