Anthony Quinn, Mexican-American, 1915-2001, California, Massachusetts, Africa, Mexico Expressive figurative sculpture, portraiture, painting “Lady of Crete” Signed lower right, edition lower left "AQ 9/10" Anthony Quinn was an Oscar winning actor, that spent time between on location takes sculpting and painting. His sculpture created in the 1970s and 80s while acting in Africa is considered his strongest works. Quinn was taught art by Frank Lloyd Wright. This relief shows a Cretian woman in left profile with the facial silhouette similar to Quinn’s sculptures. Her neck is elongated and she wears a head covering that extends to her back.
