AMERICAN FOLK ART NEW HAMPSHIRE SIGNED PAINTED WOOD CHURCH MODEL / BIRDHOUSE, modeled as the New Castle Congregational Church in Newcastle, New Hampshire, having a steeple with bell and spire, and hand-painted windows; interior has additional boards in back across the center, and with the opening at the front, the church model could have been intended as a birdhouse. Signed on base in pencil, "Christmas / 1933. / From H. Russell Lourd." Circa 1933. 18" HOA, 10 1/2" W.
Very good condition overall with some expected wear to painted surfaces.
Provenance: From the estate of Richard and Madeline Osborne Merrill, Saugus, Massachusetts.
Catalogue Note: Consigner states that Lourd was an artist of note in Newcastle, New Hampshire in the early 20th century.
