Description
AMERICAN WALNUT ROCKING CHAIR, applied burl reserves to crest rail, bold shaped arms, turned front legs and stretcher, woven-cane seat and back. Old surface with mellow color. Together with a turned ladderback side chair, probably maple, ash, or birch, now converted to a rocker, with refinished surface. Two pieces total. 19th century. 40" HOA, 20 1/2" x 21" seat.
Larger cane-seat example in very good condition with minor usage wear. Seat and one stretcher replaced on smaller example, rockers a later addition.
