Description
Ancient Greece, Cyprus, ca. 750 BCE. An attractive bichrome pottery vessel of a rounded form with twin attached loop handles and a corseted shoulder from which a slightly convex, cylindrical neck rises, all on a narrow concave foot. In addition to this elegant form, the piece is impressive for its "bulls eye" decorative motif - the exterior walls featuring two registers of repeated concentric circles painted in black on red hues, separated and bordered by black striations - the interior featuring three bands of concentric circles highlighting the contours of the bowl. A lovely example. Size: 6.25" W x 3.875" H (15.9 cm x 9.8 cm)
