Two Sets of Wrought Iron Slave Shackles, c. 1840, one a pair of "middle passage" shackles, designed to hold two slaves for transport from Africa, one leg each, side by side, one end with a ring for a chain; the other with a key operated wrist cuff on one end, secured to the other end by a chain. (2 Sets) Provenance: The Sword & Pen Antiques, 528 Royal Street, New Orleans, LA.
