Description
A Roman bronze oil lamp, c. AD 50 - 150, the elongated body with long, splayed and fluked nozzle and circular wick-hole, the upper surface is concave with 2 punched holes, flat rim around body and nozzle, handle now missing, raised pear-shaped base on bottom. L: 4 7/8 in (12.5cm). Nice green-brown patina. Ex collection of Lieutenant Commander Henry Honychurch Gorringe, later consigned to the Worcester Art Museum, and including original museum collection numbers.
