Condition

Fair to good condition overall. The spine and original wood panel boards covered in leather with edge-wear chipping, surface losses as well as slight separation at the hinge, otherwise the binding is tight. Interior front cover board shows evidence of adhesive used to repair a diagonal split (evidence appears on the board’s cover as well). Minor worming apparent on spine and back cover board (interior as well as exterior) and vestigial remains of leather straps. Interior pages are good, though minor worming present in the corners close to the spine within the first 50 pages and the last 10 or so pages at the end, but no significant intrusion to the actual text or art. Front and back endpapers, as well as a few interior pages have pencil notations. There is evidence of mild damp stains that are mitigated by the natural mild tanning of the pages that is consistent with the age and normal handling. Interior pages appear complete and are fairly bright with no noticeable losses, dog ears, tears or foxing. Title page inks are rich and vibrant with adjacent portrait print displaying crisp value contrasts and bearing a soft fold.
