Description
Europe, Potosi, Bolivia, ca. 1687. A Spanish doubloon, minted at Potosi, Bolivia in 1687, with a modern gold setting around it, with four clasps holding the coin in place and a thin loop for suspension. In the style known as "pillars and waves" with one side sporting a pair of pillars with waves and two horizontal lines forming a tic-tac-toe like design. Opposite side, while faded, would have displayed lions and castles in the four quadrants. Size: 2.83 grams, measuring 1" (2.54 cm) at its widest point. Gold quality: 14 kt.
