Stationary with the signatures of 19 of the Doolittle Raiders. The Doolittle Raiders were beloved by the nation after their revenge raid on Japan on April 18, 1942. Lead by James "Jimmy " Doolittle; eighty men risked their lives during a retaliation air raid over Tokyo.
The well-preserved letter on the Doolittle Raiders stationery measures 9 x 7". The letter features the signatures of 19 of the notable men who risked their lives that day.
The crest of the Doolittle Raiders, at the top center of the stationary, shows a plane flying over a yellow backdrop. At the bottom, the crest reads, "Toujours Au Danger" which translated means "Ever into Danger." Raiders did not fear the enemy; they conquered them.
These signatures commemorate one of the most significant attacks of World War II and the valiant men who fought for America. At a time when the world was in chaos, and the country was still healing from the wounds of Pearl Harbor just four months earlier, the Dootlittle Raid did wonders for American morale. This year marks the 75th anniversary of this well known attack.
