Description

Circle of Edwin Brown (English, 1814-1891). "Bay Horse in Stable", oil on canvas, apparently unsigned. Figural painting depicting a dark brown horse standing in full length in a stable beside trough, with monogrammed "D" blanket tossed over a stable door at right. In a likely original gesso and gilt wood frame. Verso of canvas stamped for H. Barrett of London. Framed approximately 23.75" x 27.75". Unframed approximately 16" x 20".

Condition

Large areas of paint loss to left side, with area where paint has wrinkled. Craquelure overall, with some lifting. Some frame rubbing. Soiling. Requires some restoration.
