Provenance: Estate of Bette Cooper Note: This open Sugar Bowl was meant to be used without a lid as shown in the table setting illustrating Gertrude Brassard, “Place and Show,” American Home, August 1952, p. 4. Bette Cooper, co-author of Monmouth Western Stoneware (1983), was an unofficial archivist for the factory and collected examples of these works, including test pieces, as they came off the line.
