Description
A lovely little Williams Spratling Sterling Silver creamer, perfect for an elegant tea or coffee setting. The base of the creamer is marked with William Spratling, Taxco, Mexico, and 925. The other mark next to the makers mark is an eagle, with the number 30. This mark is slightly worn but is the assay mark. The creamer dates to 1956-1964, as stated by the hallmark. The creamer weighs approximately 70 grams and measures 3.25 inches tall by 3 inches wide between the handle and the spout. It measures 1-3/4 of an inch at the base. the creamer is in good condition with no dents to the silver.
The handle has a beautiful curve to it, and overall the creamer has a very elegant mid-century modern design. Perfect addition to a silver collection. Spratling's work in Mexico and with Taxco Silver is very important to this day. He was known as the Father of Mexican Silver, and inspired native silversmiths to bring back some of the pre-Columbian or traditional motifs of Mexican artists.
