Description
F. MARTI FRENCH CAST-METAL AND MARBLE SHELF CLOCK, eight-day brass movement with count wheel, F. Marti "MEDAILLE D'OR / PARIS, 1900" mark, and bell chime, housed in a gilt-painted case in the form of a wreath resting upon a plinth, with a reclining female figure in front of the plinth, and a Cupid figure stepping around from the side to present her with a rose, all set on a marble base with pierced foliate decoration applied to the front, and resting on four cast and gilt-painted feet; porcelain dial with enamel-painted floral garlands, marked "CRAMPON". Pendulum present. Fourth quarter 19th/early 20th century. 16" HOA, 17" x 8 3/8" OA.
Very good condition overall, gilt-painted surface likely later, applied pierced decoration to the base partially detached at one end. Not currently in working condition.
