Description
FRENCH JAPY FRERES CAST-METAL SHELF CLOCK, brass movement with Japy Freres "GDE. MED. D' HONNEUR" mark, coil gong, housed in a cast-metal case with copper-painted surface, having beveled-glass door above central enamel-painted panel featuring mythological scene with cherubs, surmounted by an urn-form finial with enamel-painted body; porcelain dial with Arabic numerals, and enamel-painted floral garland. Pendulum present. Fourth quarter 19th/early 20th century. 14 3/4" HOA, 8 3/4" x 4 1/2" OA.
Excellent condition overall, no apparent breaks or losses to case, some expected wear to surface. Not currently in working condition.
