Lot includes Round Yoruba Gudugudu drum with drumstick top center from Zaire - 20th c. See Afro-Am Art and Craft by Chase pg. 53 - Note this drum was sent by Dr. Colin turnbull as part of a trade with the American Museum of Natural History. It is identical to the one in the painting, "The Slave Wedding" in the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Collection. Bakuba drum with beautiful elaborate incising Wood and antelope skin - Zaire (see pg 38 Afro American Art & Craft By Chase). Drum covered with zebra skin made in Ruanda are destined uniquely for the court of the king (Mwami) of Watusi. This drum was given to Joseph Verbist personally by the Mwami Mutara. Finger Pianos. CHIEFTAIN'S STOOL- Hand carved from solid piece of mahogany, Ashanti, Ghana. Provenance: The Acacia Collection and The Old Slave Mart Museum. Est. $300-600. Buyer is responsible for shipping.
