Qing dynasty (1644-1911), 19th century or 20th century, beautifully embroidered silk long narrow panels; one set with a cream silk ground and embroidered in colorful designs of scenic landscapes that include a scholar's pavilion, pairs of fish, and plum blossoms executed in very fine small stitching; the second set with a cream silk ground embroidered with figures in a bamboo and flower filled landscape, also executed in very fine small stitching.

Together they attended antique shows and auctions for decades – assembling a collection particularly strong on American coin silver, Asian art, historical documents, early images, and English ceramics. Both were longtime supporters of the Mint Museum in Charlotte, with Caroline serving in multiple capacities from docent to a member of the acquisitions board and trustee. Caroline translated her love of material culture into a successful career, becoming the first certified property appraiser in Charlotte.
