Some light to moderate foxing, front endpaper and rear pastedown with residue suggesting removal of bookplate. Very Good. **************************** Presentation copy from the author, with label to front pastedown and inscription to title. A scarce Charleston, S.C. imprint. Presented to John H. Wilson (likely the U.S. Representative from South Carolina, 1773-1828.) Gardner was a soldier in the Revolutionary War. He was born in Charleston but educated at the University of Glasgow in Scotland. He returned to America in 1780 to join the Revolution. [Sabin 26598]
