Description

18th C. Tibetan Buddhist Thangka:
This figure of Yama has the traditional a bull's face, a crown of skulls and a third eye, although occasionally he is depicted with a human face. He is depicted in a variety of poses and with a variety of symbols, representing different aspects of his role and his powers. He is portrayed with his twin, Yami. The other gods have skulls in their headdresses, and there are flames surrounding them.

Provenance: Acquired from a warehouse in Philadelphia that sat abandoned for over 20 years. The previous owner is believed to be an artist and photographer based out of New York.
