Description
STAMPED "JOHN BELL / WAYNESBORO", PENNSYLVANIA DECORATED STONEWARE JAR, salt-glazed, "4" gallon capacity mark, ovoid form with large arched double-groove handles and thick squared rim. Cobalt brushed spitting tulip and leaf decoration repeated twice on each side, additional cobalt at handle terminals. The pottery of John B. Bell (1800-1880), Waynesboro, PA. 1850-1880. 13 1/2" H, 10" D rim.
