SOUTHERN APPALACHIAN RIB-TYPE WOVEN-SPLINT BASKET, white oak, heavy converging-rib kidney form with wrapped double rim, and low arched handle with plaited weave to body. Retains an excellent dry natural surface. First quarter 20th century. 13 1/2" HOA, 10" H rim, 13" D rim.
Excellent condition with a few minor breaks to rim wraps adjacent to handle junctions and a few very minor losses to bottom, scattered small insect holes to handle.
Provenance: From a North Carolina private collection.
