PAGE CO., SHENANDOAH VALLEY OF VIRGINIA PAINTED YELLOW PINE BLANKET CHEST, the hinged rectangular lid with applied edge molding over a dovetailed case, interior with lidded till, applied base molding and dovetailed cut-out bracket foot. Retains original small wrought-iron strap hinges and an early green-painted surface, dated "1808" to reverse. Late 18th/early 19th century. 23" H, 48 1/4" W, 19 1/4" D.
Good overall condition with scattered areas of wear and discoloration to surface. Proper right rear foot with three-inch loss to facing.
Provenance: From the estate of James R. and Frances Holsinger, Luray, VA.
