Description
A GROUP OF MINIATURE PORTRAITS IN VARIOUS MATERIALS, 18TH AND 19TH CENTURY. Comprising a relief sculpted terracotta medallion plaque of a left facing female portrait resembling Empress Elizabeth of Russia, unmarked, diameter 5 inches (12.5 cm). Together with a polychrome wax bust profile of a Florentine lady, contained in a substantial glazed gilt frame, the verso with titled exhibition label for: The New Gallery, Summer Exhibition 1908, and named to artist Mr. Arthur Lucas, overall height including frame 7.25 inches (18.4 cm). A finely carved relief plaque of Francois II, height 3.5 inches (9 cm). And a silhouette portrait with gilt highlights contained in an ebonized frame, the verso inscribed "Richard Smith Humphrey, Bank House, Montgomery, born 1793, died 1876, overall height including frame 5.25 inches (13.4 cm).
