Description

Obtained from the Lionel Archives. This prototype for the AEC switcher was made from a painted-over 56 M&StL switcher from 1958. The red lettering was covered with white paint, and a paper AEC 57 decal was put on top. The red body and white cab is how this unit appeared in the 1959 Advance catalog. The artist rendition even features the missing front coupler as found on this prototype. The production version of the 57 AEC had a white plastic body and red painted cab. The very fragile window struts are intact on both sides. An original 1959 Advance catalog is included with this lot.
