1914-Dated, “New York 1914” Title Legend, Automobile Race Participant Badge, Silvered Brass, Choice Extremely Fine.
A wonderful and classic “Art Deco” design badge measures .75” wide x 1” tall. This authentic, early Racing Car Pinback is marked, “New York, 1914.” Its design depicts a Race Car driver who has the appearance of “Mercury” wearing his winged helmet. It was made by the New Jersey Company, Whitehead and Hoag Co. On the back is a stamped as number 4882. Likely a participant’s badge, which is rare. The original Silvered patina looks beautiful, and its overall design is impressive.
